About Naomi:
I'm a documentary and portrait photographer based in Asheville, NC.
My experience of the world is that most things – probably everything – when seen deeply, with complete and compassionate attention, reveal themselves to be beautiful, and mysteriously meaningful, and touching in unexpected ways. I hope to capture these qualities in the images I make.
In recent years I've become more and more passionate about sustainability and healthy living, which brought me into contact with Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project, the nonprofit credited by many with sparking and sustaining the vibrant local food scene in Western North Carolina.

The Farm Fresh Photography exhibition comes out of a series of visits I made, working with ASAP, to farms and tailgate markets around the region.

I found that each farm had a unique flavor: some employed whole crews of workers, while others were essentially one-person operations. Some had been farming for generations; others were urban transplants getting “back to the land”. Some had been farming for generations; others were urban transplants getting “back to the land”. All showed a mixture of dedication, expertise, and sincerity I found remarkable. I thank them all for opening their doors to me.

I'm fortunate to do a lot of work with nonprofits and other inspiring endeavors. It's a joy and a privilege to help organizations capture what's wonderful about the work they do.
